AYE Gallery is excited to announce the upcoming solo exhibition by Chen Yufan, from March 17th to May 17th, 2024. This marks Chen Yufan’s fifth solo exhibition at AYE Gallery.

Literati painting, a school of thought that developed in China during the Ming and Qing dynasties, emphasizes the integration of calligraphy and painting and the pursuit of simplicity and emptiness. Chen Yufan’s art follows these principles, employing restraint, patience, and slow brushwork to achieve subtle variations in texture and structure. His techniques are not merely an exercise in artisanship but rather a means of channeling the heart and hand, giving the shapes and details a satisfying texture and structure. Chen Yufan’s series of works on paper, “Into One,” and the series of works on canvas, “Folded Landscape,” demonstrate the artist’s consistency in using formal language. These works vividly document the passage of time and clearly define spatial relationships, while also serving as expressions of his profound philosophical musings and practices.
