Wang Yuping is a typical laobeijing(local Beijinger), grew up in the bustling hutongs(alleys) of Southern Beijing, he was infatuated with the boisterous marketplace essential to old Peking era. Wang was a representative figure of the New Generation of 1990s, and established a distinctive style with highly exaggerated and expressive figures. Later, he cast his eyes on the old town street-side with a mellow Beijing flavor and gradually focused on his family and everyday objects like vintage typewriter, old publications, sewing machines, etc. Wang Yuping has been teaching at the Oil Painting Department at the Central Academy of Fine Arts(CAFA) in Beijing until he retired in 2022. His works were exhibited multiple times at the National Art Museum of China and were collected by international institutions like National Art Museum of China, CAFA Art Museum, He Art Museum, Art Museum of Sichuan Art Institute, He Xiangning Art Museum, Long Museum, Start Museum, Zhi Art Museum.
