Pengzhou Bubble — Li Tao New Works
2020.11.29 – 2021.02.28
Press Release
This work series was inspired from a trip to Sichuan. By the Pengzhou Highway near Chengdu, next to the abandoned railroad tracks and sleepers, there laid a strange object with a peculiar sense of time and weight. Seen from a distance, this 1000-pound pure iron outcast was like a black foam cushion. In further examination, no one could tell its purpose. This bizarre feeling kept haunting me for long after I got back to Beijing, which inspired me to solidify this mixed experience. I’ve attempted various operations to visualize what I saw at that moment. What drove me to take so much effort to restore it? Perhaps the adrift feeling of various attributes brought by the target object corresponds to my psychological projection of life, and finally, through various processing and synthesis, the diversified presentation of “bubble” is completed.
