AYE Gallery will showcase Shi Xinji’s solo exhibition “Sping Mountain Chants” from September 28 to November 30, 2024, marking his fifth solo exhibition at the gallery. Shi Xinji’s recent works reflect his deep exploration of the classic literary work The Dream of Red Mansions, particularly emphasizing the portrayal of youth as a period of splendor. His admiration for youth contrasts with his previous focus on landscape themes. In his recent works, traditional Chinese shanshui represents a secluded tradition, while depictions of people and youth symbolize the emotions and power of the secular world. Scenes from The Dream of Red Mansions have inspired his creations, intertwining reality and illusion and blending the subtle qualities of the Chinese tradition with the intuitive qualities of Western art, and an aura of mystery and resilience.
