PROLOGUE/NULL – Yang Qiong
2026.03.15 – 2026.05.15
AYE Gallery is pleased to present PROLOGUE /NULL, a solo exhibition by artist Yang Qiong, on view from March 15 to May 15, 2026. Following a series of projects including Things of a Kind (2010), The Pond (2013), Ice Hole (2016), and The White (2018), Yang Qiong continues his sustained inquiry into materiality, temporality, and the mnemonic residues of civilization. Approaching history from a speculative and counterfactual perspective, the new project unfolds a quiet narrative on the possible terminus of civilization and the erasure of memory.
PROLOGUE / NULL takes the form of a chamber of evidentiary remains at the end of civilization—an imagined archive assembled by the artist. In a world where history has been completely reformatted and texts have been stripped away, Yang extracts a series of apocalyptic records that have not yet occurred. The surviving blank pages become the final illusion through which humanity attempts to attest to its former presence.
Conceived as a physical allegory of the future, the exhibition gestures toward a speculative archaeology of what has not yet taken place. Confronted with the absolute silence of cosmic scale, every human obsession ultimately collapses into a fleeting moment of chill and poetry.
